Jean answers a dead man’s cellphone and finds herself in crisis.
That’s the axis of the season opener of the Texas Woman’s University theater season.
The university’s theater department presents Dead Man’s Cell Phone, by American playwright Sarah Ruhl, a drama about a woman who answers a phone and ends up making it her mission to right the dead man’s wrong. Ruhl’s script is both realistic and absurd.
Performances will be at 4 p.m. today, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday. All performances will take place in the Redbud Theater Complex, located on the northwest side of historic Hubbard Hall on TWU’s Denton campus. Assistant professor of drama Dr. Patrick Bynane directs. Set design is by assistant professor of design Rhonda Gorman. Guest artist Jay Isham, who has designed in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for 36 years, is the lighting designer. Costumes are designed by student Brittany Fowler, and sound design is by student Gerald Young.
